Robins are always welcome in my garden…..During the weekend I was gardening and as always I was not alone! Casting a beady eye on me was this Robin, he sat and watched as I uncovered the earth and would approach very closely to feast on any uncovered insects that I had disturbed.

Robin

My local Robin is no stranger in the garden, he has a nest deep in the Ivy and hangs around my feeding station.

Like some of the other species that visit the feeders in the garden like the Blue, Great, Coal and Long–tailed Tits he has become a little partial to the suet I’m putting out at present. The beauty of the insect suet pellets is that they can be presented in so many different ways and because of this they are suitable for many species.Tits like them, not only because of the insect content but they can be offered in mesh feeders, Tits love to hang on these and take small amounts of the Calcium rich food back to the nest.Try scattering them on the ground for the shy ground loving insect eaters like Dunnocks and Wrens. Blackbirds and Thrushes will also tuck into them on the ground.

My Robin prefers his pellets on the bird-table, I’m sure this is purely so he can see what’s going on around the garden from the elevated position, he is often joined by House Sparrows, Goldfinch’s and Chaffinch’s.Why not give the Insects Pellets a go, they are an ideal food source this time of year, rich in calcium with dried insects, vegetable oils and high energy content, easy to use and provide birds of all ages and species with many of the dietary requirements they need to stay healthy and fit.
