Hazel Nuts March 2017

Hazelnuts For Wild Birds And Animals

Product Details

Hazelnuts are an excellent source of energy for wild birds and squirrels due to the high unsaturated fat and protein content. They also contain a range of vitamins, most notably Thiamin, minerals and amino acids which help keep wild birds and squirrels healthy. These can be fed on bird tables, on the ground or in nut feeders and are ideal to feed to squirrels to help prepare them for the breeding season.

They are probably best fed from nut feeders during the breeding season to prevent the risk of young chicks choking or broken up in some way to make the pieces smaller.

Not sure our garden birds like the. Fed in a number of ways but seem too big. However the squirrels like them and sit for a long time on the feeders nibbling away.
Nothing wrong with the product but will probably stick to peanuts in future as they attract a variety of birds including the pigeons!

Twice a day I put these hazelnuts out for the birds I put them in a chopper for a few seconds and they are devoured in an hour. Highly recommended.

Bought these to try as the price seemed very good.I was out when they were delivered and they were left where I said. By the time I got back (less than half an hour) our squirrels had found them and broken into the bag - I think they're a winner !
