Twootz Peanuts in shells are simply peanuts still in their growth pod, peanuts are not actually nuts but a member of the pea family. They are high in natural unsaturated fats and oils, minerals and vitamins and are a great treat for birds, parrots and other wildlife providing high levels of energy and health promoting vitamins. They are best fed from tables.

These peanuts are very high quality, surplus to requirement, human grade peanuts in shells that are supplied in vacuum packs. All our peanuts are fully tested as aflatoxin safe. Whole peanuts should ideally be fed from a peanut feeder, but they can be fed from bird tables and the ground, however, during the breeding season we recommend only feeding split or broken peanuts to reduce the risk of a choking hazard for hatchlings and young birds.

Peanuts can be contaminated by a fungus which produces a poison known as aflatoxin which is harmful to birds. Twootz.com select only peanuts which fall below the maximum permitted levels in law for aflatoxin to ensure the safety of wild birds and the blanching process removes any undetectable residual aflatoxin and fungus.
