Twootz Wildbird Peanuts are an ideal food source that will appeal to a wide range of wild birds throughout the year due to their high content of natural oils, protein, essential vitamins and minerals. Although peanuts are not a naturally occurring foodstuff for native birds, most species will readily accept them when offered and are ideal to help birds through harsh or demanding times.
These peanuts have been lightly roasted resulting in some of the skins coming loose from the peanuts and have no salt added. All our peanuts are fully tested as aflatoxin safe but the roasting process adds another level of protection by removing any residual non detectable contamination. Twootz Wildbird Peanuts are rich in niacin, folate, fiber, vitamin E, magnesium and phosphorus. Whole peanuts should ideally be fed from a peanut feeder, but they can be fed from bird tables and the ground, however, during the breeding season we recommend only feeding split or broken peanuts to reduce the risk of a choking hazard for hatchlings and young birds.
Peanuts can be contaminated by a fungus which produces a poison known as aflatoxin which is harmful to birds. Twootz.com select only peanuts which fall below the maximum permitted levels in law for aflatoxin to ensure the safety of wild birds and the roasting process removes any undetectable residual aflatoxin and fungus.
