It would be nice to think that Santa visits the birds over the Christmas period, here at Twootz.com we believe that we can make the birds Christmas dreams come true.

Christmas Time at the Bird Feeders

Feeding during the winter months is very important, so why not stock up now with all your Christmas goodies. Fat Balls , Seed Mixes and Fat Feasts are all perfect for the cold weather, they provide high calorific energy and perfect insulation for the birds at this cold time of year. Treats don't go a miss either, Robins love Mealworms, as do Thrushes and Blackbirds. Stock up on Peanuts, Niger Seed and Mixed Seed and don't forget to provide plenty of fresh water, especially during frosty periods.

Twootz realizes the importance of winter feeding, birds need to keep at a healthy weight during the winter period and use as much as 10 percent of their body weight per night in order to do so and many perish during longer cold spells. Help the birds keep their fat reserves topped up, stock the Feeder... an active Feeding Station is a fantastic sight, a garden full of birds feasting on good quality food will provide great viewing, get the children involved, you could even start a garden bird list.

If you don't have a Bird Feeder, we have Starter Kits available which contain a selection of different feeder types, ideal to get you started. So if you need feeders or food, visit Twootz.com, everything you need for the birds on one convenient site.

Over the next week or so I'll be giving some tips on all the different types of food and Feeders available so you will know how to present the food to optimise the species of birds visiting your garden.

Remember that different species prefer different food, presented in different ways, it could be on the ground, bird table or in feeders (please visit our Bird Facts page for detailed information), provide water especially during freeze ups and dry periods.

Happy feeding everyone.
